Comment:

In this weird way I feel like I HAD to make this cd. While my bf and I were together I kept trying to make a mix for him that consisted of songs I really liked for their vocalists/lyrics/emotions. I wanted a further theme besides just that, but I could never find one that fit perfectly, and what I came up with always felt forced or consisted of too many songs that I felt were so-so. After we broke up, I looked at all the failed remains of the playlists I had started and I realized that almost every song I really LIKED out of those was a break-up song and that I already had everything picked out- it was just scattered. After that it came together effortlessly.

The structure basically follows the recovery pattern I followed after the breakup. It goes from complete and utter despair and confusion (Don't Leave Me Now), to sorrow and longing (the entire middle of the cd), to a quiet sort of acceptance of what is inevitable (April Come She Will), and finally to an isolation of emotion and fierce joy and release (Empty).

Usually I really mix up my songs a lot, but this time I tried to group similar sounding songs together, but still gradually bring the mood up and down. The mood does get cheerier as the cd progresses.

If there's a way, I will also include lyrics partially because they reflect the general feeling to each section and partially because they're awesome.
