Comment:

I try to apply chance throughout my
day-to-day living, but it is particularly easy when the task at hand is
choosing sixty minutes' worth of songs from thirty-four discs, and I happen
to be in possession of a three-hundred-disc compact disc player with the
ability to group those thirty-four discs together, delete the duff tracks,
then play selections completely at random. Woo-hoo! Bliss! So I chose the U2
group, selected "All Discs Shuffle", pressed play, and kept notes. Sixty-odd
minutes later, ta-da! Tape compiled. The beauty of it is, they are not all
songs I would have chosen over their brothers, but they are all great songs
nonetheless. So you get less a David-ego tape, and more an honest-U2 tape.
If we are working on a scale of one-to-twelve, where anything with a rating
between six and twelve (inclusive) can be classed, to varying degrees, as
"good", then that what you have on this tape is a good sampler of U2.
