Comment:

this is not really my take on the best of belle & sebastian [i didn't find it fair since i am without tigermilk and two of the singles], but rather an attempt to win a boy over on the beauty of this outfit. the attempt still failed, but i now have a copy lying in my own box of tapes that i take out on summer mornings. dave e.'s post of his favorites inspired my posting of this old gem [well, harly old. maybe a bit dusty.] i can see how forcing him to listen to "fold your hands" the moment i brought it home from the store wasn't the best way to win him over on the band because sitting through the middle of the album nearly killed both of us, and left him with the shameful thought of them being a bore. so i had to force him to listen to the songs that i adore in hopes that he could too. the bliss of listening to these songs, blissful and drunk, driving off into the country at three in the morning. sheets of darkness laid on top of us and these are the songs that captivated all of us. to me belle & sebastian will always transform me to my freshman year of college, driving around the country in jon's orange vw mini bus. and turning up "le plastie de la bourgeoisie" as we were about to start sailing. i couldn't let someone hate a band that i loved so much.

Okay, so I have a question! I've never even heard of Belle and Sebastian until I started playing around on here...I downloaded a couple songs, and I am kinda liking it...which would be the best CD to start off with if I should happen to purchase one?

i forgot, the title is from "dog on wheels." to amanda: my favorite belle & sebastian will always be [the boy with the arab strap]. but i have a feeling that most art of the mixers would tell you to purchase [if you're feeling sinister]. both are fabulous, both are too wonderful to even imagine. and to everyone else, thank you for the comments. and sorry for clogging up the pages with belle & sebastian tapes, i just couldn't pass it up.

Good mix, Lux. Amanda: Yes, If You're Feeling Sinister is the way to go...

This was waiting to be done... nice mix, Lux, and I'd say 'tigermilk' is the one to start with.
