Comment:

A mix made for a new co-worker after we discovered we had similar taste in music. I admit it's a real hodge podge of stuff (it can't be blamed on alcohol unfortunately). Anyway, here are some notes on my mix for people who bother to read these things: the mix title is in homage to the recently-retired Mr. Rogers. I grew up with the guy. "Part Past Part Fiction" is from one of my all-time favorite albums, Submarine Bells. "Piledriver" is a great b-side from Lush's final album. I really miss that band. The demo of "Kool Thing" was recorded without Chuck D, and suffers for it. Still good though. "My Zephyr" was released only as a 7-inch single, and was deleted the next day I believe. Blur's "Beachcoma" is one of their better b-sides. Others aren't so good. The Del the Funkee Homosapian and Dinosaur Jr. track comes from the soundtrack to the long forgotten "Judgment Night." It features collaborative efforts from rap acts and alternative rock bands, including Sonic Youth and House of Pain, as well as De La Soul and Teenage Fanclub. Not all of it works. "Fell in Love With a Girl" is the best two minute song I've heard since "Caught by the Fuzz" by Supergrass -- a song it closely resembles. "Yo-Yo" is a recently rediscovered classic. It features an impassioned vocal performance by the brothers Osmond and some nifty production techniques. The Beastie Boys filled up the end of the tape perfectly, hence its inclusion. Thanks for reading. I'm going to go look for a life now.

Great stuff. Isn't it awesome when you find out a co-worker shares the same musical tastes as you? It's quite rare, - at least for me, but maybe that's because I work in a conservative industry - finance, but it's still a great feeling.

Woops! I forgot to include Blur's "Beachcoma" on the track list. It came before "Citadel" if anyone cares.

Swervedriver is one of the best bands ever. I was very fortunate to see them at a very small local watering hole. Citadel is one of my all time favorite Stones songs.

A great mix... You have great, eclectic tastes in music. You grew up with Mr. Rogers but love Flying Nun music? Crazy chaotic goodness.
