Comment:

possibly the goofiest mix i've come up with thus far(and my first ever stab at thematically-driven stuff as well). got the idea while listening to smog's "dirty pants" and thinking it would sound great as a lead into "dirty boots" hey, wait a sec...(lightbulb emits faint glow)! etc etc anyway, wanted to avoid the obvious ones (not enough room) and will leave the metal version (ac/dc, poison, buckcherry, w.a.s.p., ratt, motorhead), the punk version (the clash's "dirty punk" was hard to pass up, not to mention sham 69, uk subs, gbh, replacements, ann beretta, rye coalition etc), the electronica/beats version (roni size, aphex twin, fsol "dirty shadows" nearly made this one on name alone), and the hip-hop version (where do we even begin?) to abler hands. had to make some tuff cuts at the last minute (the drags' "dirty little bird" and royal trux "dirty headlines" being two big ones). no comments about don henley ("dirty laundry") or michael jackson ("dirty diana") please, because i wanted songs i might actually want to hear. only had two of the songs on cd and spent an evening taking everything else off of audiogalaxy.com, which was more fun than it should've been. yay filesharing! i'm sure i missed a ton of stuff and somebody's prolly done this already and much better. but still, i'm lovin the outcome. the real heart of the mix is that giant sand/ smog/ sonic youth grouping, which means that the overall feel is much more somber and mellow than you might expect. pretty mellow, for the most part.

This is the best concept I've seen for a mix in a while, and you really nailed some of my faves. And with a title like that, what's not to like?

Wow! What a great mix...The Stooges Dirt would have been a good end song for this...?
