Comment:

another mix to trade with the lo-fi. kind of a weird nod to 1986, a year which, for me personally, was the year to splash flourescent green, pink, orange and yellow paint all over the synthesizer and get freaked out. maybe it was just me. needless to say, there are very few of what we here in the psych ward call "moments of clarity" on this one. hmmmm... after listening to it again, i have to say that it's not so much a noise-fest (like the last mix) so much as just fundamentally screwy. but in a good way. maybe. cover art by julie mehretu, whose work is based on airport blueprints from around the world. she's awesome.

Why do I always think I've been living in a cave when I see your mixes!? At least I recognize 4 or 5 of these artists. I'm sure this is loaded with good stuff. I'm going back in my cave now...

Yeah, I often recognize only some of Ted's artists, but I know the quality of his work and have a general idea of what type of stuff knocks him out, so it's fair to say that this is great. :-)

Uncool record collection, my ass. Some really great stuff here, dude. Lizzy Mercier Descloux, Biting Tongues, Chron Gen (OMG!), and I haven't heard Blurt in about I don't know how many years . . .

You're killing me with the noise. Gonna have to open all the windows in the house for this one. Can't believe someone else has that Silver Abuse track. I've got that one set for my next Midwest Punk mix.

thanks for the support, everybody. but really, my record collection isn't anywhere near this esoterically dope. i came across most of these bands for the first time while doing research for that no wave mix. i wouldn't have recognized about 70% of the artists listed before then myself. i just felt like i had to throw that out there.
