Comment:
a very fun mix based on a vague inside joke among some friends of mine. the term "new waver" has always had a snide little negative connotation to it among my peers (not Punk Rock enough and all that blah blah), so i kinda missed out on stuff like this the first time around. but some relatively recent bands have reclaimed synthesizers and somehow made them feel new and exciting (again). it's like giving in to the dark side or something: fun and decadent! so it's all here: the cheesy synth, the ironic, tongue-in-cheek kitsch, the monotone vocals, the arty pretense, the skinny ties. i avoided a ton of otherwise worthy instrumentals because i didn't want to get bogged down in differentiating dance/club music or idm or whatever from the goofy vibe i was trying to capture. the result is very square pegs, very devo/seagulls archipelago. title is one half chilly gonzales song, one half dr. strangelove. everyone ready for electroclash?Feedback:
Very cool, although I probably know a hell of a lot more about the "first wave" of new wave bands, than these, as that type of music (I also liked punk, mind) was what I lived on in the early 80s.
electroclash, much? have you heard a.r.e. weapons? they'd no doubt be a welcomed addition to your record collection.
nice mix! yet ultra suprized not to see any bis on it
eh, they're definitely fun but came up short in the pretentious department...
Damn, I want this one too... hook me up. Makes me want to grow my bangs out and feather them/ dye them blond.
Got this mix, and it does not disappoint. highly rec. for those who don't know about the new, newwave. really alot of fun.
this is wicked. you got good taste kiddo! what's your policy on trades and so on?
