Comment:

This tape started out as an all-female vocalist/girl band mix. The international theme idea came about after finishing side one, when I realized I had included a lot of bands from around the world. I later redid side one to include even more foreign bands. Most of this is from my own collection, but a few were downloaded from the band's website, like Chicks and Bidston Moss (both great bands I had never heard of before). I'd also like to thank Kathryn Hudson for allowing me to dub the Pop Tarts song from an outstanding mix tape she sent me recently (she'll receive a copy for her contribution). Hopefully she'll post it here someday. Unfortunately this mix doesn't include any bands from Mexico, the Soviet Union or China, but I couldn't find anything--maybe next time. I welcome any suggestions for a possible volume two. I know this mix only scratches the surface of what's out there.

Excellent, Ion. Next time you need to put on Faye Wong (who I mentioned to you before) from China - maybe by the time next time comes around, I'll have a cd burner and I can burn you a copy!

This sound like a brilliant mix and an excellent, well thought out concept.
I'm glad that I was a part of it.

Must have been around the same time Montreal and Vancouver became countries :). Seriously though, this is a remarkable mix. Respect to you.

Thanks for the nice feedback everyone. I know that Nova Scotia, Vancouver and Montreal aren't countries, but then again I never said they were. I just wanted to pinpoint where they were from. Man, am I being sensitive or what?

oops, hit submit too soon.....how about some Cibo Matto? for China, there is Faye Wong or Teresa Tang, but I don't really recommend them....my actual recommendation from China would be the Red Guard Chorus from the end of The Last Emperor soundtrack...nice Japan selection...check out the Takako Minekawa/Cornelius connection

Lovely mix. Have you heard Le Mans (from Spain) or
Autour de Lucie (France...a VERY GUILTY pleasure of mine)?
Mad props for Stereo Total and Komeda...both favorites.

Another mix I somehow missed--this is also another excellent submission. I love the Look Blue Go Purple selection.

Looked like an intriguing mix even before i looked closer and realized i already like four of the songs ("Scottish Rite Temple Stomp", "I See Red", "Gun Fun", and the wonderful "Split"). If you still have a copy, i'd be game for a trade; let me know if interested.
