Comment:
the first mix i've made just for myself in a long time, and i have to admit that i'm really pleased with the result. i wanted a disc that i could listen to while painting, which is more problematic than it sounds. i didn't want something i would end up singing along to (too distracting) or that was too experimental and skronky (again, distracting). so i put something together that starts out with a warm, mellow, casually funky feel and slowly moves into an intermediary post-rock kind of thing (or whatever) before turning up the juice with the nearly 20 minute closing track. i'm hoping it'll ease me into focusing on the canvas in front of me, slowly evolving into a more freeform/experimental feel once i'm locked in and concentrating (all without being too intrusive, of course). i have a jazz cd that'll follow this in my 3 cd changer - still thinking about what to put on that third cd. title comes from the zen teachings of bodhidharma (translated by bill porter).Feedback:
Wow. This is mind-erasing. :-)
Yeah, it is hard to find music that you don't want to sing along to but isn't too weird, which will make you think "now, why did I put this song on here?" Good job on this one.
