Comment:

I didn't set out to make an 80s mix, but that's what happened when my trusty CD player started misbehaving. "Time to break out the vinyl," I said to no one in particular. This is part of a massive two tape trade with AOTMer Kathryn Hudson, whose guitar-pop mixes were an inspiration for this. Few, if any, of these bands are around anymore. Kirsty MacColl died in a boating accident earlier this year. Some of these songs were even minor hits, but are frequently overlooked during alternative radio stations' "resurrection weekends." I realized after I finished this that the Buzzcocks song was recorded in 1978, but there's no way I'm going to go back and tape over one of the world's greatest bands! Now where did I put that Weather Prophets album...

when you think about it, 1978 belonged more to the 80's than it did to the 70's, culture wise, so no problem. Props for Kirsty Maccoll.

This is way cool, Moe. When my computer starts working again (i.e., one to two weeks from now when it's fixed--I'm on a friend's at the moment), we should really talk about a trade.

This is excellent, Ion. Unfortunately, when we moved to Aus., we had to get rid of our turntable - it was too old, and would have been too expensive to buy a transformer to use it - $200+ dollars. I guess we could always buy another one...And to Rob - do trade w/Ion - he makes excellent mixes!

This mix is the shiznick as all the young whipper snappers say. Man I would love to get a copy of this slice of gold.

I just thought I had to say how great this mix really is. I recieved it last week and it hasn't come out of my tape player since. The best mix tape anyone has ever made for me!
