Comment:
mix made for lo-fi jr. i'm not quite sure how or why i fixated on language this time around, but i had fun making it nonetheless. it starts out nicely and then slowly gets just a bit... odd. there's just something perversely intriguing about listening to motivational speaker tony robbins talk enthusiastically about his "transformational vocabulary" and stuff. actually, his teeth have always made me a bit nervous (have you seen those things?), and he sounds like a coked-out maniac here. it's a bit scary, to tell the truth. but he sets up the transition to the treacherous three really really well. the two tracks play off of and comment on each other in really interesting ways. title stolen from the fall.Feedback:
this looks way better than the tape i sent lo-fi. great work!
Odd & good! For any revised editions in future you might want to work in Laurie Anderson's "Language is a Virus" -- that would certainly fit in towards the odd end of the spectrum.
yeah, i don't like that song too much. but i really considered a song of hers called "language of the future." aside from not really having room for it, i decided that the opening to the song (which details an airplane losing its engines and plummeting towards new york city) was a bit too prescient for its own good. so no laurie anderson.
Cool idea and a fine mix.
Good mix! I think XTC's "No Language in Our Lungs" may have fit also...
Rooting around the bowels of AOTM, looking for interesting mixes, whether minty fresh or not. I really like the looks of this mix. Just high concept enough to get me through a Pete Townsend track. And I love the closing. If you see this comment, and would be interested in a trade, le' me know.
