Comment:
I made this for my older brother as a companion piece for when he drives up to his family's cabin in Wisconsin. I wanted to have a very 'travelin' America' kind of vibe. I also styled it so it's a bit more geared to his tastes. He grew up on that mid-period Stones, a-bit-o-country in the rock, CSNY, The Band, CCR, Buffalo Springfield, etc. He even saw the Stones in '72 (I was sooo jealous...). Funnily enough, the Stones song that kind of inspired this collection ("Far Away Eyes"), I ended up leaving off. I recently read that Mick Jagger did that as a parody of country music since he really doesn't take it seriously, like Keith did/does. I wanted this to be sincere. Especially since Drivin' N' Cryin, Kevn Kinney, Indigo Girls, Black Crowes and R.E.M. all wanted to make me move to Georgia years ago. (I still haven't yet....plus, Austin TX has replaced Atlanta/Athens in my heart.) Anyway...dig in and don't be shy about seconds...Oh Man!! I just noticed there's another "kev" (lower case and all) on aotm. Can he do that? Just take my identity? Please don't confuse me with him. I just noticed his xmas mix. ummm...nothing against his tastes, but they are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo far away from mine, it's a little umm, unnerving.
