yessir, when i say rawk you best believe i mean rawk r-a-w-k! this is my feeble attempt at a mix of my fave japanese garage bands. not meant to be comprehensive or well-informed. likewise, my music collection doesn't have the chops to support much of a historical perspective. for that kind of thing, i recommend checking out lo-fi jr's "banzai au-go-go" mix or popyura's "so brutally defeated" mix or menghsindy's "chasing the land of the rising sun" mix. they do it better than i ever could. this is just a little slice of what's out there, falling somewhere between the j-pop and noise stuff (both of which i tried to avoid). i know it looks like it's the same five bands over and over again, but it flows well and stays fresh. i know i've already used "bomb the twist" a coupla times already, but i just can't resist the manic hand-clapping and the fact that she sounds like she's throwing up every time she says "twist." how fun is that? personal highpoint: you don't nothin 'bout no "boom swagger swagger" until you've heard "young jaguar." then "refrigerator zero" falls outta the sky like a ton of bricks. music to play at a party when there's nothing to do but turn the volume way up, spill some pabst blue ribbon on your friends and strangers, maybe spray paint the walls a bit, maybe shake what ya mama gave you. be careful not to cut yourself on the kitsch factor.... cover taken from the insert of guitar wolf's last album. ***heavily modified, fortified, and reconfigured 2/19/02 in preparation for another round of trades***
