Comment:

This is a belated Christmas present for my friend Scott Reeder. He's a big fan of alternative country (Wilco, Uncle Tupelo, etc.), but he also likes the Beach Boys, Sebadoh, Nick Drake and the Pogues. Needless to say he's got good taste, so it was a joy making this for him. What's up with Scott Baio on the cover, you ask? Well here's the story. Back in junior high, Scott had a hopeless crush on this cute classmate. One day he saw that she had written "I love Scott" on her notebook. My friend was walking on air for days, until he found out from a friend that the Scott in question was actually teen sensation Scott Baio. Of course he was devastated. This mix is intended to rub salt into the wound.

This is wonderful AND hysterical. Have you ever heard You're Always Welcome at Our House by Shel Silverstein? It's a demented classic.

I have a friend who taught english in Korea for a while . When he came back to Canada with his new wife , she broke into hysterics upon seeing a rerun of Joanie loves Chachi. Apparently Chachi means Cock in Korean... Who knew?

This is wonderful! I love everything, but I've just got to comment on your Shins pick--I absolutely love that song, and you know, you don't see it used an incredible lot.

Bonus points to you for inclusion of "Heavenly Pop Hit." In a perfect world, this song was #1 and all over the radio during the spring of 1990.

Also, bonus points for the dB's, Old 97's and Liz Phair

This mix has a lot going for it--nicely designed cover, inclusion of the hideous themes of BOTH of Scott Baio's post-Happy Days shows, evil twisted background story AND best of all, a warped life of its own as reflected in all the postings here! Scott Baio is like a cultural flashbulb memory for our generation.
