Comment:
mix made for my oldest and best friend jay, who lives far away on the west coast these days and just became a father a while ago (scary). i love that guy but his musical tastes are a bit underdeveloped. in general, he thinks most rap is "too violent" and isn't adventurous enough to give groups like cannibal ox or aesop rock a chance. i remember him getting a bit irritated with me when we were kids because i'd talk him into buying stuff like the first ultramagnetic mc's record when i couldn't scrape up the cash for it. no sir, not very curious about what's out there. i therefore had to stick to the obvious stuff i know he'd relate to while sneaking in some old skool gems that might take him back (especially "robocop" - he always was a sucker for that cheesy vocoder shit). he flipped over the j5 release i sent him a while ago, so i included some stuff along those lines for his commute to work. the young mc track makes me retch, but i know he'll be happy to hear it again. what can i say? hopefully some of it'll get his head bobbing. cover courtesy of dojo magazine.Feedback:
lol good stuff
this looks really good young trapin...i mean, who couldn't bob their head to that blackalicious track?
mad phat, teapin...
You rock the party teapin! The beat! The rhyme! The noise! I still have all my De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest and Wee Papa Girls albums, as well as the 7A3, True Mathematics and the Jungle Brothers. I can't say that I play them that much, but they're too good to get rid if.
Having kids does indeed change the amount of hip-hop that gets played around the house. This looks great Mr. Pin. I'll file this in my memory bank for our next swap installment.
this is such a rad cd. wonderful job.
DAMN! Teapin on the hiphoptip. Secret selector, I am bustin a headspin right now in your honor. Now what about those of us who prefer it weird?
Oooh, Blackalicious!
