Comment:

prompted by junior d's awesome looking "king of the echo people" mix, which starts with a u-roy track that had me jumping up and down and getting totally nostalgic. this isn't so much "pickitup pickitup pickitup / too hectic too hectic" as it is soul music for rudies to turn the lights down low and just sway to. as much as possible, i stayed true to the mid-to-late sixties golden era of rocksteady, with some obvious nods to both ska greats and upcoming cool operators. i felt obligated to load up on the paragons - they really are much much more than "the tide is high." i also gotta give a high-five to those people who transferred their scratchy vinyl studio one and treasure isle albums to mp3 for the betterment of the file sharing community at large. they're doing their part to keep a cultural heritage alive, to say the least.
