Comment:

A mix for teapin, who seems to share my eclectic taste in music. I've subjected him to some recent swap meet finds, a few late 80s remixes and whatever else struck my fancy when I was putting this together. The pleasant title is taken from a 70s album of groupies describing their lifestyle and conquests. A snippet from it can be found on the mix. A few notes on some of the above (I won't get too carried away this time): STEINSKI & MASS MEDIA - Actual news broadcasts of the JFK assassination set to a hip hop beat. Walter Cronkite has never sounded funkier. FREELANCE HELLRAISER - Any Spin reader can tell you that "A Stroke of Genie-us" is the vocals to Christine Aguilara's "Genie in a Bottle" played over the music of the Strokes' "Hard to Explain." Surprisingly it works. EL VEZ - This former singer for the San Diego punk band the Zeros recorded a great cover of this Wall of Voodoo classic, borrowing the riff to the Smiths' "What Difference Does It Make" and changing a few of the lyrics in the process.

Tres cool, Ion. Great tape cover too - you gotta tell me how you create them. Don't you just love swap meet finds? While not found at a swap meet (it was at a record store I don't frequent enough), I recently found, for AUS$8, Durutti Column's Valuable Passages LP - something I've been looking for for years!

oh man, this looks amazing, ion. can't wait to check it out. lots of stuff i'm excited about and quite a bit that i'm not too familiar with. awesome! sergio mendes to the hives rocks, and that laura cantrell song is great, too. i just hope i can put something together that's comparable in style and finesse!

If that's Jimmy Page the title refers to, the girl looks a little old for his tastes! Calil swap meets sound cool; all you find in Jersey are '70's Ronstadt and Rod Stewart lp's!

Nice to see that Freelance Hellraiser track here. That was one of my favourite songs of 2001...

Wicked. I especially like the NRBQ and Spoonful picks. Nice cover too.

ooooh...I LOVE that Tater Totz song! Whooda thunk We Will Rock You would blend so seamlessly with Give Peace a Chance???
Great mix, looks like a lot of fun.
