Comment:

Keep your painkillers handy, kids. Made to amuse myself when I need a laugh during my distress week, but I'll probably send it to everyone I know, to give people some idea of the frustration of PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), which is like PMS X 100. It's like temporary insanity, or at least, severe clinical depression (the theory is that estrogen lowers serotonin in some women). So side one is the musical approximation of waking up with the worst cramps imaginable and feeling effin' crazy and raw. To compare my menstrual cramps to a near-fatal shark attack while surfing is hardly an exaggeration. Side two is about dwelling on cycles and mortality in the bath tub. (Last month I went to a funeral before my period.) The title of track 1 reminds me of females rationalizing that pain is the price we pay for sensitivity, both physical and emotional. The Clash are my life raft in tides of blood. Extreme Noise Terror cracks me up, in general, the way schizophrenics are calmed by violent tv shows (or agitated by pastoral scenes). Then there is the end where I regain my composure, the discomfort fades, and I wonder how much damage I've done trying to socialize when I should have been quarantined due to toxic brain warp.

woah, this looks mighty intense. i bet there's a song or two by the cramps that would fit in here nicely as well. that toxic brain warp is a killer!

Aww, it's not that scary -- you'll find out soon enough.

P.S. There will be another PMS mix eventually because it's an ongoing factor in my life and there were several songs that didn't fit onto this. I think I need to start mixed reel-to-reel tapes or else get cassettes cut to custom length -- 90 minutes is like haiku when what I'm craving is Walt Whitman.

i know what you mean - sometimes it's nice to work against a tight time constraint and sometimes you just want to get lost in a week-long sonic exploration. i wonder how much a 168 hour blank tape would cost....

to the Queen...: excellent "moods" piece! That 2nd Lips cut is fantastic.., I can't get enough of it whenever I think of it. (Play>repeat,ad. inf.) and David Sylvian...!!! His "Big Empty Iron Vessel" is one of my favorite "zoning" pieces....so much great stuff here. I hope you find your Whitman-esque tone poem..."I shall be filter and fibre for your blood."

Thank you, VALIS. Even though it's not all that "out there", I imagine this would appeal to a minority of listeners. Glad you're among them.

Oh golly, this feels like I'm bleeding from my crotch. Its always tough to find the right occasion for an Extreme Noise Terror track. Good job.

Like it babe . . . I have settled in Victoria. Calgary is one of the planes of hell that Dante failed to include in his book

Anyone who includes the master Burroughs in their mix
is hip in my book!

Holy Crap! This rocks beyond words. It has a grace that only exreme pain/insanity can bring about. Only a couple of bands I don't know, but what I do is deadly. Very crispy stuff!

Very interesting theme with some great songs. That last five song sequence looks especially promising.

For the record, I love a ton of this stuff--TG, the Clash, Syle Council, Damned, Dayglo Abortions(!!! I haven't heard them since 1989), both Lips, Burroughs, Bush, New Order...
