Comment:
i made this because me and my friends always argue about whether or not a solo record was necessary for certain artists, ya thats it reallyFeedback:
I like this concept a lot. My picks would have been different, but it still makes clear when an artist goes solo whether the talent goes with them or not. In the case of James Iha, we all go running right back to SP... well, the earlier SP albums anyway. Although an artist like David Usher, I think, has managed to make far superior music on his own than to the music of Moist. To twist things, I might do a three-parters like Pavement/Stephen Malkmus/Preston School of Industry to substantiate my theory that Spiral Staircase was actually the beter musician, while Malkmus got more gimmicky. Maybe Heatmiser/Elliott Smith/Quasi and oh hey, STP/Scott Weiland/Talk Show. Most people might disagree, but I'll follow the DeLeo brothers anywhere.
