Comment:
After putting together another international girlie pop mix last month, I decided to go worldwide with Old McDonald as well. A few bands are making repeat appearances -- Tages, Os Mutantes and both Kaleidoscopes. Sorry I didn't include the dates the songs were released this time. Everything is from the 60s (mostly late) and early 70s, with the exception of Les Negresses Vertes and the Cato Salsa Experience. To avoid any argument, I realize the Bee Gees started out in Australia and moved to the UK, while the Rokes (who sing in Italian) started out in the UK and moved to Italy, where they were very popular. Thanks to Sir Gerry McDonald for the Poets, who of course will be getting a copy of this.
Feedback:
oooh i love to have this, LOS SHakers from Uruguay, wonderful even if i never have heard of them, but what a name and what great country for rock
Oh yes, Ion. You have struck gold once again, my friend. Traffic sound are brilliant and this mix is much required by me.
Ahh, another edition of Old MacDonald. I dig the singing Zebras on the cover too. Stick it in my pile.
Oh, its Old McDonald, whoops.
So many greats, mixed up with so much I haven't heard. Please save me a copy, and let me know what I can send you in return. If it's anything like the first volume, it rules. Great cover, too!
Once again, looks amazing. Would you believe I was singing The Bugaloos' theme in the kitchen yesterday?! :-S Please save me a copy!
The student gives the Master a run..., I am on a banana-seat bike riding to the moon; this is my soundtrack. (I'll need it for that ride Ion....!)
Great mix and a great series, Ion. Like the cover too :)
Solid gold once again Mr. Moe. Just gave the first two volumes a spin this morning in preperation for this. Don't know The Terrys. Part of the 60's group sound movement or one of the contemporary acts you're so good at sneaking in on these?
Another fine mix, Ion.
this is a'schoolin'
And to answer your question: sure I want this. :-) Oh yeah, I love how you parodied the Mothers album with your cover. heh
Another great job, Ion... and I think this has to be cover of the month!
forgot to say you're welcome for the poets pick, Ion!
Jumbo is my favorite thing the Bee Gees ever recorded. Glad to see it on the mix.
oh wow, ion, this looks fantastic. we'll have to arrange another trade when i get home. and it was fun meeting you and yvette last nite!
Oof, my man, you really do keep baffling me. Who the hell are Paddy, Klaus & Gibson? Guess I definitely gotta brush up on my German psych knowledge. Nice cover, BTW.
yeah that cover is badass! i only know a few of these bands & fewer of the songs but it looks like champeen shit.
The Cato Salsa Experience? I heard those cats once before. They're neat.
Fuck - this looks simply incredible! And the cover is one of the all time greats.
This is a great mix. I recieved my copy yesterday. I love it. It's a great companion to my 2-CD set mix "Dreams In Technicolor: A History Of Psychedelic Rock".
I highly recommend this disc to anyone that loves psychedelic rock. Excellent job Ion.
I highly recommend this disc to anyone that loves psychedelic rock. Excellent job Ion.
Man...if the bands I don't know on this mix (most of them) are half as good as the bands I do know (Mogollar, Os Mutantes, Les Negresses Vertes), this mix must kick some serious ass. Up for a trade?
E I E I Ooooo, I'd love to trade for this one! For one thing, I wanna do some remixes with the Bugaloos. So don't forget to write...;-)
