Comment:

As usual, this is a mix of songs from the albums I have been listening to this week. And I found myself starting off, looking at six or seven of them and realizing I couldn't pick just one song off each. In many cases, I wanted to put....TWO (Perish the thought!!!!!) So I decided to Noah's-Ark it and double up the cuts. And, naturally, it wouldn't be a mix of mine without some cheating, some deviation from The Rules: Gang Starr and Q-Tip only have one cut each, while Ice Cube has three. But one Cube cut is from the "Office Space" sdtk, which is where the Geto Boys song comes from (and, also, where the title of this mix comes from, by way of a little paraphrasing.) I included two REM songs, two different versions of each, one original, the other a cover version from the only "tribute" album worth it's weight in gimmick, "Surprise Your Pig: A Tribute to REM". I am particularly fond of the Steelpole Bathtub cover of "We Walk" which is very slow and noisy and quite funny (if, naturally, you get the joke.) The REM tribute also features one of my favorite long band names: When People Were Shorter and Lived Near The Water. I'm very proud of this mix. It moves quite nicely.......Email me with questions, requests for copies/trades, or whatevah.........ciao.j.r.e.
