Comment:
This one was FUN to make. I know I say this almost as much as Kevin Smith does, but this is my best mix yet....See, for the past couple of months I've wanted to make a mix of strictly Wire, but I could never get around to it. I'm about to go on a two week trip to NYC and I really wanted to get some good driving music down on tape. But as time went on (I got a second job), the idea changed into more of a "Wire vs. ???" kind of mix. And the more I listened to Wire, the more I was reminded of other great bands that were around at the same time as Wire's first three years recordings, 1977-1979. So I started thinking about Television and Blondie and The Ramones, but also of Joy Division, The Clash, Bowie and Echo. And somehow Fleetwood Mac even got my attention over all the noise, sneaky buggers. So I expanded the dates to what has quickly become my favorite era for pop music (or whatever), 1976-1980. Yes, a tape is born. Again, my best mix yet, kids. And then, naturally, I started thinking about giving a copy of this one to a girl I kinda fancy. It's so corny, I know. But we'll see.As always, I welcome feedback of any kind. Let me know what you think of the mix.
Feedback:
Good gravy, this is fantastic! That's my favorite era for music as well...though I might actually extend it to about '83. Nice to see "The Puppet" here, too.
This is a very cool idea and a very cool mix.
Outstanding.
Very nice.
Wall to wall greatness (though I might have opened up the field just a bit, maybe some Buzzcocks or Jam). And here I thought I was the only one on earth who was comfortable putting Lindsay Buckingham's Tusk material side-by-side with the Pistols.
I really like this. Makes me wish I was more aware of music during this time period.
very nice indeed.
