I made this mix after sitting around with my friends talking about our high school days back in the early '90s. Someone mentioned the styles of the time and I said "those times were all about Africa medalions, dashikis, high top fades and $100 sneakers". It was also a pretty interesting time for Hip Hop as well. Afrocentricity was kinda in-style at that moment. Some kids I went to school with wore t-shirts with pictures of Malcolm X on them and didn't even know who he was.

You forgot maybe my favorite fashion statement from that time: the black baseball cap with that stupid metal plate on it..Janet Jackson wore one on that Rythym Nation album, and countless imitators followed. In the parlance of the time, your mix is FRESH!

I feel ya, Eyebrow! I also remember the BBD "mental" look. Jeans and sweatshirts with your name or even your picture airbrushed on them, mixmatched shoes and brand new baseball caps and clothes with the tags still on them. Ooh, and also beepers on your shoes.
