I find that very rarely do I make Theme tapes. Quite frankly, I don't think I'm that good at it. And it usually takes some kind of catalyst, some event to take place, to get me thinking Theme. Well, I got one while I was in NY for the holidays. My best friend, Laura, got genuinely fucked over, long-distance style, by a guy named Robin and I was there for most of the drama. The long and short of it is as follows - Future-Divorcee Boy meets Single Girl, whirlwind sexual romantic frenzy ensues, F-D Boy decides to drop the "L" word, Single Girl falls for it, F-D Boy disappears and later resurfaces with the following Prepared Statement: "Well, I meant it at the time." Ya don't say, pal? Well, then, I say: Mean THIS, Motherfucker.....Most of these are hate-filled, "How Could You Do This To Me?" songs, but many are straight up love songs, now (hopefully) rendered ironic considering the context. I'm especially proud of this one because it's not for me. I'm not going to dub a copy of it for me. I'm just going to send it out into the world. Get that perspective, Laura.
