Comment:

A CD for Thomas Mohr, who wanted to hear Negativland's funny and controversial cover of his favorite band's big hit. ;) Not being content to burn a CD with only one song, I had to add a bunch of bonus tracks to get my money's worth on the 23-cent disc. I wasn't even planning on posting this originally, but I was pleased with the way it turned out, so I decided to add it to the archives. There's some weird international stuff, as well as a few catchy little tunes I discovered on the Internet. I hope he enjoys it!

Excellent! Hmm, while the band you mention may-or may not-be his favorite band, he certainly dresses like the lead singer a lot. ;-O And it ain't what Ken Nordine's singin' 'bout! He should feel he's received "fair value" in this "on-the-money" mix o' schtuff.

Cool mix-up Ion. I've got the same problem with wasted digital space. I blame a Catholic upbringing for myself. Actually would like a copy too, since I keep meaning to seek out that infamous Negativland track.

I haven't heard a bad mix from you yet, Ion. I think this is weird in the extreme and that's why I like the look of it. Anything I can tempt you with which might convince you to post a copy in this direction, my friend?

And you BET I will enjoy this! Thanx a freaking bunch, my friend,'specially for including the John F. & die Gropiuslerchen track, I didn't have this). In fact, there's loads of faves here: Burgalat, Czukay, Steinski, Nordne, Baxter (did some Re:Search?) etc. And I hardly EVER wear sunglasses at all . . .!

Don't know most of your "filler" tracks here, but Negativland's banned U2 single is, of course, a must-hear for anyone who ever grew up listening to Casey Kasem. (It's Kasem, not U2, who gets nailed here, though it was U2's label that filed the lawsuit banning the single.) Negativland has the song posted on their website if anyone here hasn't heard it yet: http://www.negativland.com/audiogadgets.html

Yes, it's very funny to hear Kasem's obscenity-filled outtakes like "these guys are from Ireland and who gives a shit!" I found the actual CD single at a used record store about four years ago. Apparently they thought it was a U2 bootleg, so I got it for about 10 bucks. So what size t-shirt do you wear Thom?

Looks like I'm late to the party on this one, Ion, but this looks freaking awesome. Great mix. (sorry about the long delay in our trade. I hope you've received your mix by now.)

Moe *does* know tees..! (..and that "hardly EVER wear sunglasses" bit, to quote some estimable bastard I've forgotten, "reeks like a mound of bullshit!")

an excellent sounding mix, friend... I am curious however about the April March, for there are two bands, one called An April March and the other just April March. There's a bit of mystery surrounding both and am curious as if you know anything in particular about either. (I love what I've heard of An April March's catalog so far). Otherwise, this mix is quite the tasty treat, and it comes as no surprise that you made it.

Like Thomas I, too, am listening to this as I type.....at track 8 right now, and it moved me to post a new comment right now! brilliantly segued, seamlessly stitched....this is a "must-have" for those of you haven't acquired. Beg him..., entice him with Barbie paraphernalia, or Hot Wheels, or Simpsons schtuff....do whatcha' gotta' do. Masterful Ion.
