Comment:
Louis Marshall Jones hailed from Kentucky. Already a proficient musician in his youth, Jones began to adopt the persona of an old-timer, at first to match a voice that sounded older than his years. During the 1930s and early 1940s, Grandpa toured the Northeast and performed on Wheeling, West Virginia's WWVA and Cincinnati's WLW. He came to the Opry in 1946.Tradition-minded audiences loved Jones's old-timey renditions of numbers like "Mountain Dew" and "Old Rattler." His exuberant showmanship, pre-bluegrass banjo style and colorful humor helped to uphold traditional forms throughout 50 years of modernization in country music. A regular on the Hee Haw television show for many years, Grandpa Jones won Hall of Fame membership in 1978.

Feedback:
Wonderful! I'll be needing this at some point.
Oh! I see it must time for us to do another trade!
ok something to look forward too
Damn Gerry...uhm, toss this on the haystack please ;-D
Excellent! I remember good ole' Grandpa from many years back. It's easy to malign him - after all, Hee Haw was a bit over the top. Still, he was a great performer. Save me a copy, please!
Yes "exuberant" is the word to describe Grandpa. Very nice, gerry.
I must admit that I'm totally unfamiliar, Gerry. Toss this on the pile for the proposed trade when I finally get the ball rolling...
woah, despair, and agony on me, massive deep depression, excessive misery. If it weren't for bad luck ,I'd have no luck at all, so woah ,despair and agony on me. I used to watch HeeHaw all the time as a kid...sick hunh? This is awesome Gerry.
Exactly (!) what greaseball said..., exactly.
Gerry, I second the many comments below. A package of goodies is indeed arriving anyday for your taxi and home.
Gran-pa's no Communist! This looks fascinatin'!!
greaseball, it's 'gloom, despair and agony on me. deep dark depression..' the rest was right. tapegasser
Damn! I was just about to post my own Grandpa Jones mix, but what's the use now! This looks very nice Gerry, but please don't be offended if I don't ask you to toss it in my hay pile!
No offense taken! I knew this one would mess up some heads. Like I said to Valis, a guilty pleasure is my love of bluegrass/hillbilly.
mixes come and go so quick, so i'm happy to caught this lovely piece of music!
I guess I might need this sooner or later. Loverly.
Holy freakin' crap! I never thought I'd see the day that someone makes a Grandpa Jones mix. Do have a Junior Samples disc in the works? I'll be in the cornfield waiting for my answer.
