I had Night Swimming by REM in my head one day, and at the same time was listening to Photobooth by Death Cab for Cutie, which has a line in it about skinny dipping. And I thought to myself, "That's a good idea for a mix tape! Songs about skinny dipping!" But then, I realized that I only knew those two songs that were about skinny dipping and didn't actively want to search for more, so I just filled the mix with songs that I love. (But it begins and ends with skinny dipping, so the title is justified.)
