Comment:
This is the 41st tape in my series of mixes I make for myself (for play in the car, the walkman, etcetera). This is a 120 minute cassette. Some notes on a few songs- The Elvis tune is from one of his 1954 Sun singles (now the most valuable record I own, which I bought for $3). Elton Britt is a phenomenal yodeler; "Chime Bells" is a nice yodel-country number. Jack Lahana's "Moure" is a freaky track from the Astralwerks compilation of French artists called "I Hear Voices". The Beta Band's "To You Alone" is also from an Astralwerks compilation: a 12"EP called "Rarewerks". For this series I never use the same artist twice on a tape, except for the goofy stuff I use to fill out the tail end of each side, hence the two Van Morrison songs. These two songs are Van screwing around making nonsense songs in '67 to fulfill his recording contract. They owned "his next 30 songs," so he gave them 40 minutes of improvisational crap.Enjoy.
Oh yeah, "Better Half Mix" is my code term for "I cut off about half of the track" (the half I don't like). The Sugarcubes mix has about 4 minutes of crappy synth-piano solo, assumedly performed by Tony Humphries. Also, the Pet Shop Boys mix is only available on the vinyl version of their "Disco 3" which is fabulous.
Feedback:
This looks very, very cool.
nice kinks and moody blues
Oingo Boingo? Fan-bloody-tastic mate! The list of artists makes my head spin, but if it's working for you, then cool, cool, cool. Out.
