Comment:

This mix is another favorite of mine (#24, 90 minute cassette). Let's see . . . The Beatles track is "I Want to Hold Your Hand" sung in German. My copy of this (on mono LP) is super-scratched and it skips in the first chorus; it goes "Komm gib mir-- Komm gib mir-- Komm gib mir--" until you press down on the tone arm ever so slightly, so that's how I put it on the tape. It's great! Then there's another of my favorite song combos of all time (and it features Static-X again, hmmm . . . ). The great link between the Static-X track (which is very Static-X) and the Pet Shop Boys track (which is very disco) is that the rythms are identical. It serves to sort of poke fun at the metal track while validating contemporary disco. All of which is fitting 'cause I enjoy Static-X as a novelty and I take dance-pop pretty seriously (when it's good). So . . . The Kronos Quartet song is from the soundtrack to the movie "True Stories" (which is a favorite film of mine as a Talking Heads/David Byrne fan). I thought I'd never own this soundtrack (it's rare and out of print), but I found it in Germany, on LP, still sealed. Whaddaya know. Misterogers' "eerT eerT eerT" used to be "Tree Tree Tree" until I spun the LP backwards. It's very mellow and eerie. And finally, yes, that is The Slackers covering Bon Jovi. I like The Slackers' version WAY better. Yippee.

This is great! I'd love a copy of this one! And that's one of the best mix titles I've seen on this site.
