Xmas Tape Without Xmas Music
Comment:
I made this for my girlfriend Summer, who passed away several years ago. You can read about her at http://www.thesummersite.com and check out the charity record that I put together for her that actually has a couple of bands on this tape. one of several I made for Summer for Xmas 97. This one was titled "Xmas Tape Without Xmas Music" and has a photocopied photo of Summer changing my shoes while I read The Stinky Cheeseman as the intro to a beatnik poetry thang we did at a Seis de Mayo party.HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
Our favorite line from the Pamela/Tommy Lee video (she mentions not knowing where her cocktail is, hence the inclusion before the Joey Altruda song. Tommy replies that he doesn't know and then says "Right here!" and pans down to Tommy Jr.)
The Joey Altruda cd (i just noticed that you spelled it wrong, oh well) was a present she got me for my bd but it was the sort of present that one buys for someone else even though it's really for themselves. I was so shocked that I couldn't even fake excitement when she gave it to me. She was WAY more into that stuff than me and i didn't bother listening to it for awhile. I finally took it into work and LOVED it but she thought i never listened to it and didn't notice that it'd been at work for months.
The Sloan song is followed by the Who song that it blatantly steals from. After one of their Troub shows, Chris was talking about the Who and I said something about them covering this song and he gave me a knowing smile.
The Gallagher fight is from an interview that was actually released as a single (and charted if i'm not mistaken!).
The songs by Killer Pussy and The Creation were two of Summer's big faves but I don't think she knew I had them.
The British motif of the second half of side one.
You can make a custom mix cd and have a portion go to charity at http://www.thesummersite.com/aint I hope you check it out! Adam (the boy)
