Comment:

A mix at the request of Steve Mossholder. You asked for a late 60's, early 70's British folk mix, Steve. Well, I cheated a little! Folk music on it's own is interesting but a little limited in it's purest (British) form. So, here I have made a mix containing elements of Folk/Psych (Incredible String Band), Folk/Blues (John Martyn) Folk/Pop (Marianne Faithfull)and lots of traditional British folk (Amazing Blondel, Martin Carthy, Steeleye Span). The musicianship on this mix is truly stunning. These guys really knew how to handle their instruments. Lots of great solo performances to rival the better known "folkies" in the US. This one creeps in to the 80's, with the beautiful "Planxty Davis" by Nic Jones.

I recognise most of these names, but I don't know the music. Still, it looks like it should be lovely, if that makes sense.

Some nice stuff here (though this isn't necessarily "my beer", as we say in German). Like the Jansch/Renbourn, Pentangle, Fairportm, Martyn & amazing Blondel tracks.

Hmmm, (though this isn't necessarily "my rum" as we say in this household). Still, I'm fascinated by the chance to hear it..., may just have to pull out the 23-year old bottle and have a couple before I spin it... :D

Wow! I knew that for every 2 bands I've heard of, you'd come up with 8 for this one. Time to pack up my William Blake, a bottle of wine, and this for the countryside. Thanks a million!
