Comment:

The latest installment of the girlie pop series brings us 40 years of "typical" female acts, presented in convenient alphabetical order. I did my best to make this an all-women affair, but a few guys crashed the party. The first person who can tell me which bands have male members (ahem) will win a copy. Thanks to Lakespeed for turning me on to the delightful Dolly Mixture and Sean Lally for setting me up with the Carrie Nations.

I'm still trying to get caught up on trades. If you haven't heard from me in a while, please be patient! Thanks!

Very cool mix.Tracy Ullman's 'They Don't Know' has always been a guilty pleasure of mine but does this mean that the whole album is pretty good?

whirly swirly girly pop! I'd like to hear this, but since you say you're backed up on trading, I guess it'll have to wait. Maybe someday, though . . .

Shit - you come back swinging! Nice as always - many faves here - esp. Fuzzbox, Suzi Q, and you put maybe my all time fave "girl" cut - "Breakaway". Extra points for being the first person I've ever seen other than myself putting a Mo-dettes song on a mix.

Cool mix.. loved ESG from the early 80s. Their song moody was stone classic. Never heard any of their 90s stuff but I think a compilation came out a few years ago.

Doesn't anyone else besides Sue want to take a crack at my question? It's really not that hard -- there's only two.

LUV? That terrible Dutch (or were they Belgian?) threesome that polluted European airwaves and TV screens in the late 70s (He's the Greatest Lover!). Are U CRAYZEE??? My mamma were all . . . Okay, Suzi kinda makes up for it. And hell, Cindel, Tracy Ullman used to be BEEEG in Europe in the 80s! Luv (sic) the Slits, X-Ray Spex, the Yeasties, Mo-dettes, Fuzzbox etc. etc. But what the hell am I ramblin' about? Jus' slip it into an envelope and send it my way. ;)

Very nice mix.

X Ray Spex had men on guitar, bass and drums.

At the time of "48 Crash", Suzi Quatro fronted a band that was all male and included guitarist, husband and songwriter Len Tuckey.

So that's two then :)

This might be rash, in light of the fact
that I haven't yet looked at Vols. 1-4,
but I'd have included The Primitives, Darling Buds
Letters to Cleo to make friends, and Drain sth
and L7 to make enemies.
