Comment:
Alright, this is the first of two CDs I painstakinly compiled after my last heart break and before I met my current girlfriend. I still hate Valentine's Day, but I don't think I can ever go back to my troubled state of mind when I made this CD without listening to these songs.I limited my track listings to correspond with Feb. 14, and went from there. Acutally, as anyone who has seen the movie can tell, the first three tracks were inspired by "The Wedding Singer" with Adam Sandler's "Linda" referencing The Cure. From there, I went for my usual electic mix, hitting every contemporary genre, from gloomy goth (The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins) to plaintive classic rock (Neil Young, Eric Clapton) to angry rap (Lil' Troy) to tear-jerking female singer-songwriters (Natalie Merchant, Aimee Mann).
Altogether, they are meant to traverse the rough and rocky emotional territory of heartbreak...from utter loneliness (One, Old Man), nagging regret (Promises, Pictures of You), bitter hopelessness (Love in Vain, Please Don't Go, Bodies, It Hurts to Be in Love), terrible anger (Liar, Bitch in My Book) and misery-loves-company anthems (Love Stinks, Break Your Heart).
CD bonus: I designed a CD sticker for this compilation prominently featuring a real human heart torn apart by forceps...yeah, I messed up in the head! Let me know what you think...
Feedback:
smashing pumpkins tune is called bodies
Thanks, I changed it. I think I was thinking of the Marilyn Manson song at the same time for some reason.....
