Comment:

It's not exactly summertime here in Southern California, but I didn't want to wait until June to post the latest Pet Soundalikes. Like the first two PS mixes, this is a collection of songs by artists who owe some credit to Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys. This one includes several bands from the beaches of England, as well as two from Sweden (the Jackpots and Safari Season). High fives go out to my surfin' buddies Valis (the Knack and Honeyrider), Thomas Mohr (Roy Wood) and DJ Lunch Boy (Shonen Knife). I'm always open to suggestions for songs/artists that fit the bill, just in case I try to compile a fourth one. I'm still waiting for Glen Campbell to release his follow-up to "Guess I'm Dumb" -- "Guess I'm Drunk." Hope all my fellow AOTMers have a great new year!

I like how this was sequenced so you can't tell the new stuff from the older stuff. Just goes to show that the Beach Boys had a timeless sound, I guess! Especially dug the Safari Season and Twice As Much tracks.

excellent! i love the beach boys! your petsoundalikes playlists are lovely(they remind me of Caroline, Now). i think some other artists who'd fit apart from the thrills (who i think somebody else mentioned already) are The Pearlfishers.

Nice. When I look at this mix I regret being a Midwesterner instead of a Californian. I'm a parochial Midwesterner at that--I never got to California until 11/2003 for a hypertension conference in San Diego. The weather was great.

I'd love to have this series. I'm adding it to my favorites right now - this is classic stuff.
