This past new year's eve I hosted an 11.5 hour program called New Wave New Years on WMBR, the purpose of which was to play songs from the late 70's early 80's as a soundtrack for listener get-togethers. I use the term New Wave loosely, so traditionalists who scowl "that song isn't new wave!" are probably correct. This particular section of the program focused on songs heavily influenced by ska, rocksteady and/or reggae with a few 60's soul covers thrown in for good measure. Overall it came out quite well, my only regret is the placement of the Specials. It should have been sequenced earlier in the mix with the slower songs, for some reason I remember that tune being much more upbeat! I burned this mix down to disc while OTA without interruption. I'll be posting other NWNY mixes in the future, thanks for looking!
