Comment:
It's been a while since I posted a mix, but here's number 58. I called it Dual Meaning because I've been feeling a bit misunderstood lately. Anyway, I wish I had a bunch of time to say something about every track, but I don't. So, I'll just tell you that Dion (remember Run Around Sue?) performing a slower, more chilled and depressed version of Purple Haze is just terribly sweet. And to hear Elvis following it with Amazing Grace in his signature cheesy style that seems to flow right into a Weezer b-side is beautiful. It just about makes me cry every time (I'm nearly serious). Also, the stretch featuring The Saigons, The Cashmeres, The Willows, and The Empires are from a stack of 25 45s I got for 50 cents apiece. They're all from about 1956 and a lot of them are radio promos. They're great because they're all signature '56 pop, but they're not the 20 songs you've heard on the oldies station your whole life. They're great songs and they're actually hilarious in their amateurishness. If you'd like to actually see the tape (trust me, you've got to see it) go to my little homepage at http://nicoproof.tripod.com. Have fun!Feedback:
Oops. Television's Elevation is track three on side two. Somehow I left it out.
