Comment:
August was a preamble to my new life, or perhaps a last chapter in the old one. It was mostly marked by a planned break up that sort of... shattered my grounds. It was also me preparing to moving from rural Central Virginia to Washington, DC (The City). Each day was just this sort of clinging on to what I know what I know was "not an accident" (October 17...). Not to say I didn't have a good time in August--I had a pretty grand sleepover in a creepy house (Radiapathy), but really August was pervaded by a melancholy (After N. Young) and a growing fear and sense of loneliness (Left Alone in the Dark). "I've never felt so good before, I've never felt this peace inside" (When it hits my blood) I dreaded this breakup. We had a good run though, the two of us. We were youthful and feckless and in love, but we had to split up because we're too young to be so devoted to one another. (Hey! Is that a Ninja Up there). Then the official break up day came and it was absolutely miserable and wonderful at the same time (Join Up). The aftermath though was devastating. It was noticing a great absence in my life... like there was a hole in my fabric (The Woolly Mammoth's Absence). It was exactly how I always imagined it--like a music video the two of us watched a long long time ago (A Movie Script Ending). But I pressed on and looked towards my upcoming move and school (Futures). I pressed on trying to "move on" (I Keep a Diary) and by the end of the month I was pressing along just fine although still lonely (The Queen of Comparisons)
