Comment:

Well, here we are. Almost three years since I started visiting the AOTM site. I have had a great time. Heard fabulous amounts of new (to me) music, and made some very great friends. It matters not much to me really that we sometimes don't trade music. Just having you guys/gals as friends has enriched my life no end, and I mean that sincerely. Anyways, before I go all teary-eyed, this mix is the usual concoction of seldom-heard (mostly) late sixties and early seventies psych-prog from the McDonald vaults. When I get my head together and stop being so damned scatterbrained and lazy, I will do a tribute mix containing stuff sent to me by my AOTM fellow mixers. Something in the style of the recent offering by the good lady, Cruella "Nest Of Vipers" Deville. That may take sometime, because I have 500 cds to sort through that you folks have sent me in the past three years!

If I have missed anyone out on the superhero cover, then please accept my apologies. If you have heard from me or dealt with me in the past then you should be on there.

Enjoy!

I have to admit I recognize a lot more names on the cover than on the mix! But knowing your taste, I'm sure the bands are as cool as the mixers.

Ooh, man, there's quite a bit of tuff stuff to put up with on this one: Patto, Juicy Lucy, Bronco, Bakerloo(!), Mountain(!!), Panta Rei(!!!) etc. Well, it's not really my kind of music. I'm sure it works fabulously, though. Excellent cover idea . . . ;-)

FLAME ON!
I always was a huge Human Torch fan - what a cool superpower! And what a terrific mix (though much of it is unknown - I do know that if it is contained in the McDonald Vault, it's got to be good). I've only been here about a year - but I absolutely echo your sentiments re AotM and all the great mixers that I've linked up with herein.

Here's the thing: this looks fantastic for a mix, Gerry;
really marvelous! Glad t'see that your torch is still lit..
Almost missed buglady's character on the cover, then I spied
her, man. It's a coincidence seeing this today; last night I dug out

Howard Chaykin's Blackhawk series from my closet box and was skimming
through the pages.

(btw--It appearth that Valith ith really thor...sure hope he ith
feeling better thoon).

Excelsior! Sorry - got in the Marvel mood. Is anyone out there a current comic fan? Like many, I went through a pretty intense youthful period - a Fantastic Four guy, myself - and then a brief resurgence in the mid/late 80s when the Dark Knight / Batman series came out. Anyway.... just an obsession confession.

Once again, the music listed here is a complete mystery to me. The cover, however, made me LOL!

I read/collected quite a lot of comics in my paper route days--(now up in the
attic in boxes & plastic bags)--Fave artists: Walt Simonson/Jim Aparo/Gene Colan/
Howard Chaykin/Ernie Chan(Chua)/Joe Kubert/John Buscema/Jack Kirby/Steve Ditko/Bill Seikowitz/
Mike Allred, et al.

Fave titles: Metal Men/Thor/Daredevil/FF/Shade/Star Slammers/Machine Man/
American Flagg/Blackhawk/various Dark Horse series...

Though you won't find me in Comic Shops nowadays, there's a current mag that my
younger brother picks up and passes on to me, entitled
"Milk & Cheese"
--a couple of boisterous characters with a lot of social commentary running through
the pages...

I'm so teeny! What a great mix, and one of the best covers ever conceived, well done Gerry! It's been great trading with you over the past 2 and a half years...you'll be getting the next batch right after that dreaded exam!

I've always loved the comics - my faves as a kids were Fantastic Four, Spiderman, Daredevil - and they really still are - I was always a Marvel man, but have lately come to appreciate the Dark Knight. As to the newer guys - I'm mostly clueless, though I've just finished reading volumes 1 & 2 of Richard Moore's outstanding Boneyard...Abbey is awfully hot, especially for an undead.
I'll have to check out Milk and Cheese, Gene - that looks pretty kewl.

Gerry, that's an amazingly accurate picture of me you've got there -- sometimes your cover art rivals the music for sheer entertainment -- Nice picture of buglady, too!

what an amazing tribute. Some bands from my dim and distant past. Haven't listened to SAHB for years - I'm going to dig out Boston Tea Party right now. See ya!

Great cover even though I am not on it because we have never traded. To Sean: I've been reading comics for over 25 years...still do...all kinds...I loved the FF when Byrne was doing it in the 80s.

"Milk & Cheese" is SUPER brilliant - my wife's fave comic. Hmmm... comics, like records, are obsessions, eh? So, music lovers are often little kids who never grew up?

The mix is your typical brilliance, but the cover is one of the year's best! You really outdid yourself this time Happy to see my name among so many esteemed colleagues. Love the buglady and valis repesentations especially -- though the latter is much more buff in real life.

Wow! I really am going rather misty-eyed at such a sentiment. First of all, wonderful cover and I feel proud to be in such company. :) Unfortunately I can't comment on everything on the mix, but I'm sure it sounds really wonderful (fantastic opening, to echo others' sentiments). 500 trades - I have a lot of catching up to do!
