Comment:
In the begining there was The Beatles, Dylan and Motown. Ever since I first heard You Can't Hurry Love, I was hooked. Twelve Super Stars, The Funk Brothers and many more greats. This is a pitifully small sample from the label that brought black artists and their soul sounds into mainstream America. In my mind Marvin Gaye's What's Going On is the quintessential pop song-in the best sense of the term. But don't take my word for it. Sit back and listen as James Jamerson (bass) and Benny Benjamin (drums) set down the truth as the Funk Brothers take us off to the places we want to go to.Feedback:
Very lovely.
You got it for sure. I can still remember hearing the opening notes (the Jamerson bass line) of the Washington DC area radio premiere of "You Can't Hurry Love" on 1390 AM. It blew me away.
