Comment:

An associate of mine does a yearly Halloween mix, a feat that I find stretches the boundaries of what's do-able on an annual basis (but- more power to him anyway). Nonetheless, this inspired me to locate and arrange some spooky tracks that he'd overlooked in assembling my first-ever Halloween compilation.

Less than a third of 'No Marrow' apes material from his six volumes but ultimately, you can't re-invent the wheel when it comes to really cool, requisite songs that aren't overly obvious. In addition to some random things not found on commerical CDs (Jimmy Fallon on SNL, Phantom Manor dialogue, a 'Springfield mix' of SNZ's 'Hell'), there's some great covers of old faves, a terrific Boingo track that isn't 'Deadman's Party', and a decent intro/outro bookending the whole thing.

Most importantly of all, I wanted to sidestep the big production hassle that usually surrounds my compilations (edition of 50 with full sleeve design & construction): inside of a week I put the songs together and made a modest disc label (printed at home) and dispersed to a dozen+ friends.
I found it an exhilarating exercise in semi instant gratification leaning heavily towards indie rock and probably my final distraction before I immerse myself in the prospect of the annual Xmas offering.

This is terrific. It's good to keep a sense of humor about this kind of thing. Thematically, this could go very awry in the wrong hands. But you've pulled it off nicely, I think.
