Comment:

This is kind of my response to those commenting on their distaste for Billy Joel. This is kind of a sappy, old lost-love mix of mine from 1998 that touches on Billy Joel (TM) types of themes, but the presence of Ben Folds Five here, who publicly expresses extreme disdain for said Joel, should provide evidence that I am not a full-fledged Joel-ite. My tolerance for 80's love songs is very low and tinged only by my vulnerable teenage years during that era (note Huey Lewis & Sting numbers--I know they're a bit sappy, but it's not that bad for that kind of mix and even then I had other non-Celine Dion tunes here).

Ben Folds Five and Fishbone always draw comments from me, but the fact that you included my favorite guilty pleasure Huey Lewis sets it over the edge. Awesome mix!

No one realy hates Billy Joel. They just tell us so hoping we will think they are hip (as they smugly post mixes of crap that no one has ever heard of). It's too bad so many peoples musical tastes are informed by their idea of what they think other people think is cool. Whatever.

chuck klosterman has an essay in his book "sex, drugs, and cocoa puffs" about how billy joel is eternally cool because he's unattractive. i can't remember what it's called but it is pretty hilarious. love the pj harvey, by the way.
