Comment:

An introduction mix to anyone interested in Ben Gibbard and his foremost band, Death Cab for Cutie, the best indie band today IMO. They did just sign a major label contract (which they very much deserve), so I'm not sure if they can still be classified as indie. But it makes me feel better to, so I will. The INDIE rock of Death Cab is infectious. This mix showcases their most accesible tracks and an overall sound of what the best songwriter in indie rock today is capable of. Recommended for new DCfC listeners who want to see extraordinary cuts ranging over 7 years of Ben Gibbard's career...
THE NEW YEAR-powerful. best track off DCfC newest release...WE LAUGH INDOORS-the drums make this song...SUCH GREAT HEIGHTS-the kids love this song...THIS CHARMING MAN-most uptempo song from Gibbard...BLACKING OUT THE FRICTION-juxtaposition of scaling piano and searing guitar...BLACKING OUT THE FRICTION (itunes)-takin' it back to the roots. they perform a live version similiar...YOU REMIND ME OF HOME-campfire song to sing along with...SLEEPING IN-can you not love the postal service?...DEBATE EXPOSES DOUBT-how many friggin beautifully complex songs can he squeeze into "the photo album"?...TINY VESSELS-very brave to do this...PHOTOBOOTH-this song alone would make DCfC a household name if it were on the radio...BRAND NEW COLONY-power up with the mushrooms. oh sweet, a fireflower too...SCIENTIST STUDIES-from 2nd DCfC album. not a very accesible album, but with time you'll love every track. be sure to bring patience...A MOVIE SCRIPT ENDING-my fave song to listen to...email me if you want to swap some music!

you should throw in some "all-time quarterback" too, ben's early "bedroom pop" thing. if you haven't heard it, you gotta get it. good mix, but i would've LOVED to seen "steadier footing" on here. that song kills me.
