Comment:

Back in the day, Dan and I were roommates in college. Dan was a slave to the rhythm, and couldn't get enough Erasure, Skinny Puppy and Depeche Mode. He made fun of me for liking bands like Jason & The Scorchers and Green On Red. We've both grown quite a bit, musically, and a few years back, he was fully infected by the twang and the jangle. All it took was a little exposure to Jay Farrar. In the meantime, Dan's girlfriend of the past couple of years is one hell of a groovy chick who also loves the twang and jangle. She said that she couldn't find any good alt.coountry in 2004. Despite the fact that my spending power had been greatly diminished, I still found tons of great music in 2004, and this is one of three volumes, created for Dan and Helene, because Dan always makes me kickass mixes when he's in town, and because Helene needed to be shown that there was some pretty damn good twang, jangle, torch and then some, in 2004. I haven't sent this to them yet, but I hope they dig it. Happy '05, y'all. :-)
