Comment:

David Bowie (David Jones) was born today, 8th January 1947. BTW Elvis Presley would have been 70 today!

This is a themed CD featuring songs performed by Bowie, songs written by Bowie and songs sounding like (or paying tribute to) Bowie.

The World Party song is very similar to 'Young Americans' in my opinion, even the sax sounds the same.

'ZX Dan' was a huge hit in South Africa in 1979 and lyrically covers the same ground as 'Starman' i.e. a spaceman coming to visit and encouraging us to turn up our radios and rock and roll.

'Velvet Goldmine' was recorded during the 'Ziggy Stardust' sessions but not released at the time. This song does not appear in the movie of the same name, because Bowie did not give his approval.

'Let's Spend The Night Together' is a Stones song that Bowie covered on 'Aladdin Sane', possibly in answer to the Stones writing a song, allegedly about Bowie's then wife, Angie.

Grant Lee Buffalo's 'The Whole Shebang' from the 'Velvet Goldmine' soundtrack is a musically very similar to 'Oh! You Pretty Things'.

The Sunways mp3 link is to the live and unplugged version, but my CD uses the original album track.

I could go on and on, but that's enough for now.
