Comment:
After poking around a bit more, went to discussion forums and saw the controversy about Theme Mixes - to be "cute" or to *mean* something. My first mix that I uploaded definitely falls into the "cute" category - songs with no link but titles or lyrics that are somehow "literary" in nature. (I realised this when I made it though, thinking of my target audience. I think it's still listenable but no one's going to pull it out every day.) So, feeling a need to somehow "defend" myself, I decided to upload another of my theme mixes - this one way more effective and that I still listen to frequently, months after making it.Basically it's a loose collection of travel/"missing you" songs that are melancholic. I did commit one sin - I'm in the camp of people who only like one artist per mix tape (unless you have a REALLY good reason - and I didn't other than filling up the CD). I have FOUR Simon & Garfunkel songs (they all fit but when I redo this mix - as I intend to do someday - I'll look for cover versions of the songs or alternates.) Next time, I'll also use the Nanci Griffith version of "Boots" and DEFINITELY add "Don't Be Crushed" by Hawksley Workman. As always, suggestions for addititons/changes are welcome! Cheers...
