Comment:
The latest girlie pop is a pure and simple collection of some of my favorite female-fronted covers, both old and new. The Petra Haden track is from her latest CD, which is a cover of the entire The Who Sell Out album. The catch? Every note is recreated using only her voice -- multi-tracked obviously. She even tackled the between song jingles as well. Gotta give props to my cover boy Thomas Mohr for giving me the scoop on tracks 4, 6, 11 and 21, as well as my brutha Sport! for that death metal version of the Bread song. Both will be getting free subscriptions.Feedback:
mmmm i want this mix. it looks superb. i hope you left the mojo jojo ending with the dressy bessy song.
Moe, this looks fantastic! I only know a couple - Models and Si-ST - but I get the drift and totally dig it. Great work, as always in the GP series.
Do want to register a slight complaint for crediting Iko Iko to the Dixie Cups. We need to send you to Faber College to correct that.

Oh Moe! This is just to lovely. I love the Creatures cover of Right Now (which I have on rapidly deteriorating audiotape). Let me know if you'd be up for a trade (and bitchin' cover!)
another cool one, but hey whatever happened with our trade?
suberb stuff once again, Ion. We really must set up a mega-trade soon, my friend. It's been soooooooooo long! Hope you're well, and thanks for the kind wishes on my last mix.
Looks excellente, amigo, but who would've expected anything less? Can't wait to hear it. And, uh, you're welcome. (What was that thing about the shrimp and the Barbie?)
Very cool especially the Delgados and Detroit Cobras.
Looks excellent, Ion...perhaps my favorite group a' girls yet!
Killer CD, Moe. Shall I burn a spare copy of my latest for a trade?
Super!
This is fantastic -- and excellent cover for your covers mix!
Great addition to the series, Ion. That Nouvelle Vague album is superb and made for this.
I love this stuff...
Very cool mix and cover.
No one knows like Moe knows. He knows girls.., girlie girls. Looks like a great tracklist too! (I'm tempted to reveal my own preference for uncovered girls. But I'll resist.)
Lots and lots of pop goodness on this one.
What Valis said. Nice cover, too.
Looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cool!
Isalute you mon ami, superb stuff, praps we could set up the trade we mentioned soon Ion, I'd love a copy of these cover girls to peruse over!
The wait was worth it... I'm happy that I could help a tiny bit with this suberb mix! And I'm even happier with the subscription!!!
Would definitely like to hear it! Cool cover too.
Fantastic, Mr. Moe.
Very very nice!
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
cool which is 2 more 'a'S THAN Cruella...brilliant!

Love the cover. That's an original IM photo, right? Love the covers too.
Woe, Moe! This is bordering on TOO good! I must've said "oooh, I wonder what that sounds like!" 10 times while reading through the tracklisting. And that Petra Haden album sounds amazing.
I somehow missed this. Geez, this is whiz-bang nifty!
I've got this one, and it's got attitude! But I think the photo is from, oh maybe... Barbie Bazaar?
Ther's nothing better than a well done covers mix, and, this is one.Superb.The cover is also fab:-).
Desewrvedly mix of the week. Vanessa Paradis doing "Waiting For The Man"!!! My mind is well & truly boggled.
Congratulations Ion!
Well done, Prince of Pop (Girlie)! Third comment's a charm.
UmMmMm...I sort of gotz a stupid question how do you listen to the mixes?
Congrats Ion!
Wow! This is freaking awesome!
Kiss-ass covers execution!!
Awesome job, Ion! and congrats on MOTW! (are those yvette's dolls as cover stars?)
Eye opening! I had no idea the donnas shared my taste for sweet. Actually I had no idea most of these covers existed, or that euro-trash girl was a cover.
Once upon a time I had that Adult Net song on tape, but I believe I foolishly taped over it with some generic house music. D'oh!

I love AOTM because of the lack of negative comments so I will do my best to honer that, however, there is nothing pop about this list of songs. An awsome mix? Sure. Pop? No, Hell No Where is that Kelly Clarkson? Britney? Madonna? Pat Benatar? Aretha? Patti Labelle? Gwen? Pop stands for "pop"ular music. I do need to expand my music knowledge and I hear what you're gonna say, "This guy dosn't understand me or my music" Trendy feminists unite. I'll listen to all this music and probably love it, but just a suggestion try : "Cover Girls (indie girlie songs vol. 8)" This is just my opinion and I'm sure I'm wrong. For heavens sake, you got mix of the week and my mixes (like pretty much everyone elses) get like 4 comments. In fact scratch all of what I just said and allow me to start over, Ahem, Congrats on MOTW, you really earned it. I can't wait to hear Peggy Lee doing "Everyday People". Nice cover art too! You rock Ion.
Pop-rockin' good time!
Oh, lollipop good & sweet & yummy, let there be moe moe moe of this series!
(though I must say the thought of the del rubio triplets singing "whip it" makes me tremble . . .)

nice mix! good selection of girlie pop... i can never get enough of that. where the heck did you find all these!
Just got my copy in the mail today. Could be Moe's best yet (of the ones I've heard)!
I just love love love Petra's take on The Who Sell Out. Nice diversity here.
3 cheers for Bernadette - first time I heard someone do their 3 verses in German-English-Portuguese. Euro Trash Girl is killer - I need to look up the Cracker original. And great cover too.
Uber-good mix, my friend! I may have to steal some of these for my next covers project. Stellar finds!
Wow, great mix! I do have to make one nerdy correction, though: The Models recorded "Bend Me, Shape Me" mere months BEFORE the American Breed! I believe the story is that they were label-mates, and the record company had the American Breed record the songer after the Models so it would be a bigger hit!
