going for a sorta underground nyc early 80s underground funk/punk/dancey feel. well, adrian belew and tom tom club weren't really underground, and I didn't discover ESG until recently, and at the time I thought james chance was just awful noise, but, you know, people at my high school were listening to f*cking
journey when all this first came out.
