Comment:
This mix is brought to you by the letter J, which is the first letter in Joe Raposo, whose wonderful music inspired this CD (posted as a cassette, so I could squeeze in all the songs). Raposo, who died in 1989, was the longtime musical director on Sesame Street and the Electric Company, and composed many of the songs heard on both shows, some of which are included here. He also co-penned the theme to "Three's Company," not included here. The majority of the songs on this mix are Raposo-esque -- catchy, whimsical and deceptively simple, with a high incidence of flute, harpsichord, xylophone and harmonica. I wouldn't be familiar with Raposo if it wasn't for Jeff Boller, a.k.a. the Simple Carnival, who's included above. I got to know Jeff via e-mail after using one of his songs on the last Pet Soundalikes. I was surprised to learn that he considered Raposo a bigger influence on his music than Brian Wilson. Intrigued, I asked Jeff to send me a mix of Raposo stuff, some of which wound up here. In addition to Jeff, I have to share my magic carpet with Matt Hinrichs and Stephen Royce, who both provided songs. Ready for a quiz? The first person who can tell me the name of the fellow on the cover wins a copy. (No it's not Joe Raposo).Feedback:
Everybody would recognize that that guy is you, Moe. (-:
Oh Moe, this is just lovely! I've considered J-Jump to be my theme song for a long time (beats the hell out of that damned Tommy Tutone song!)
Hey, there it is. I've heard it, and it's guaranteed to raise a smile. Maybe even a tear if you've a sentimental nature.
Jeez! Just a jingly-jangly, juicy, jivy, jocund, jocose, jiggly-joggly, jostling jodhpursful of jollity and joy! Jimmy, jimmy, er (jerks Japanese dagger out of jugular vein, expectorates Jaffa orange and spits a jarful of juice) GIMME GIMME!
Rooseveldt Franklin, I think, amazing stuff once again
Peter, once again, is our winner. Nice guess Mixxer, but I have brown eyes.
I got the Sesame street record in Swedish, intrested ;)
great stuff once again, Ion. I think Abi would love this. Let me know when you're up for a trade, my friend, it's been a long time.
Wow, this looks incredible. P beat me to it but I would love a copy too if you could do it Moe.
An interesting looking fun mix.
Great. Great. Great.
Fun. Fun. Fun.
Well-done. What else would we expect?

Outstanding Ion! (I can see why the Death By Chocolate and Cornelius picks are here when put in the above terms.)
Holy heck! This is beautiful.
The dude continues to amaze. Now if only Ion would get to work on the Zoom mix (anybody remember Tracy from the first season of Zoom, probably circa 1972 or 1973? Man, I had the biggest crush on her...).
Who wouldn't love this!
...and the Pointer Sisters!!! YAY!!
This hyperactivates my outer-child!
This hyperactivates my outer-child!
This is a truly amazing mix! I'd LOVE to hear this one....
Wonderful mix, I've listened to it several times since you sent it to me. "Somebody Come and Play" has got to be the sweetest, cutest song ever! My favorite part is where you put some of Raposo's Electric Company music, followed by Simple Carnival's perfect homage to said music ... thank you!
Wow! Ion, we're gonna hafta get a trade going when I'm up and burning again! Supercalifragilsticexpialidocious!
This is amazing! I would love to trade for this someday.
Great fun!
man where do you dig these things up?not familiar with that bee gees song..and many others..nice flow to what i do know..excellante.
Oddles, and oddles of pop goodness here. Lovely mix.
Careful now, Cruella's outer-child is hyperactivated anything could happen now & we'll all know who was responsible! Sweet as honey Ion.

Sweet stuff & cool cover, Ion. Damn, I knew that was Roosevelt Franklin too.
Lots o' fun!
I love Roosevelt Franklin Elementary School, and I need this mix.
could it be that my love of pop music is because my mom parked my ass in front of the television as a young lad to watch sesame street? i think you've given me a major breakthrough...
I just wish someone would release an album of all Joe Raposo songs and other music that aired on Sesame Street (70's era) ; like "Go Ahead & Touch", "A Little Bit (At The Beginning), "Springtime", "Capital I", "Lowercase N", "Danny Dear", "Starfish", "Sea Horse" and the likes. And how i wish it happens in my lifetime! ;)
Best. Mix. Ever!!
And a Happy New Year Mr Moe :)
