Comment:
The girlie pop series hits number 9 (number 9, number 9...) with a third collection of female-fronted Beatles covers (plus a few songs inspired by the fab four). I've tried to limit this series within a series to one song per artist, but that Nina Simone cover was too good to pass up -- especially the way she stops the song to scold her keyboard player for his premature fills. A pair of Beatle boots goes out to Thomas Mohr and Greg_D, who both contributed a couple songs. Thanks guys! You want a quiz to win a copy? Name another Beatles' song that Helen Reddy covered (you might let someone else win, P the Swede!). Update: Muzag (not Misfit) is our winner.Feedback:
ok I do that ;)
this looks stupid and fun at the same time, I suppose 19-20 is on the stupid side but 4-10 on the more fun side

Good to see you're still alive.;) Looks fab, as usual. And, needless to say, I expect to hear this in the near futah.
Wow.
Great looking addition to the series, Ion. "Fool on the Hill"?
This looks like the best one yet....I'm going to guess Hey Jude...?
more wonderful stuff, Ion. Your discs went out on monday, my friend.
Excellent. Looks like Muzag beat me to it.
Beatles covers.I love 'em.
This looks wonderful, as always.
Well, Muzag already won, but I was hoping I could snag acopy by noting that Reddy's "Fool on the Hill" is from the truly misguided film, All This and World War II, which featured footage from the war & a sound track comprising nothing but Beatles covers.

...always a sucker for Beatles covers. Never can go wrong w/ Nina Simone.
This looks wonderful.
great job but i'm to shocked to find lili ivanova in a mix round here to comment:)i don't supose you're bulgarian,or...?
Absolutely marvellous. May I suggest Anita Harris' "Beatles Rhapsody" ( a medley of Strawberry Fields, Penny Lane & All You Need Is Love) & Sylvia "Y Viva Espana" Vrethammer's Carry That Weight for a future volume?
This is indeed wonderful (as per George) and is assembled with your by-now requisite level of cleverness, style and quality. Once my burner issues are resolved, we should really think about doing a more comprehensive trade than the ones that we've done recently.
Terriffic!
Very nice, Ion; your birds really can sing.
Wow, awesome. Trippy cover. Really cool selections.
You guys are all so smart. This is nothing short of terrific. By the way, perhaps you don't know that the John and Paul wrote Let It Be for Aretha Franklin? Her version is very good.
Wonderful as always!
The hits just keep on coming from Moe.
Awesome...though I know next to none of these covers.
Excellent mix Moe...really top notch w/ great cover to boot!
Sweet Apple trax as always, Ion. Funny, that Lee Castle LP has a track I meant to put on my Beatles cover mix, but I forgot about it.
Oh wow, this mix looks like a lot of fun. Can i interest you in a trade for any of my mixes?
i disappear for two years only to find out you've only made seven of these things in the interim? i'd say it was disappointing, but this is too fucking good.
oh man! keep these coming! each one is better than the last...
...ummm...i only have 5 volumes of girlie pop.
Congratulations are in order for Misfit for his correct answer to the quiz. A copy also goes out to Jenergy for her knowledge of soundtracks from misguided films. Way to go kids!
Ion - looks great as always! (-: on the birds metaphor.
Absolutely wonderful collection.
This looks great.
Well, I just received my copy today, and I can't begin to say how much I love it. Very hard to pick out just a couple of songs for special commendations, but Holly Cole's haunting "I've Just Seen a Face" and Sergio Mendes' catchily melodic "Norwegian Wood" are what stand out on the first listen. Thanks Moe for sharing this!
I have a supercrush on each and every one of these volumes you've assembled. And Oh Oh Oh on including Cilla. <3
Hey Moe:
I Really enjoy this one. Great work.
