Comment:
There are just too many Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich songs I love to fit them on one CD, so it had to be a two-parter! Arranged in chronological order (as I tend to do with my compilations whenever I know the dates!), part one features thirty tracks from little over two years (1963-65) - and every one a Girl-group classic! Some of these songs were co-written with other people notably Phil Spector.Feedback:
Sweet mix! Very fitting for the summer... I think Darlene Love would fit nicely with these tunes as well. I really enjoy the Phil Spector sound in this genre of music.
Great stuff!
Damn right about Darlene Love! It doesn't matter how many CDs you get together for a mix like this - you overlook just one and you've potentially missed out on two or three great songs. As luck would have it I had a bit of space left on the second disc to this collection and these songs are so short they don't take up much space, so I've shuffled a couple of "Part One" tracks on to "Part Two" and added a couple of my favourite Jeff and Ellie songs by Darlene Love as well as a Bob B Soxx & The Blue Jeans track (...three for the price of two!) Oddly enough, the two tracks I shunted onto the next disc seem to fit better there too! I'm particularly happy at having moved The Beach Boys to "Part Two" so that this disc is now an unashamed "Girl-group fest"! Thanks!
Very nice. And if you read the titles down, they almost tell a story. Looking forward to part 2.
another astonding one
Thanks. I actually posted "part 2" at the same time as I posted this one! It's on this page: http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=92483
Damn, this is beautiful.
This is amazing - I wanted to do something like this before, but this is much better than what I would have come up. It sure has been a long time since we've seen songwriters this consistent, eh?
Oh man, this is just awesome. If you're interested in a trade, do get in touch.
These two mixes are stunning. I'm with Jenergy. If anything on my list interests you, please do get in touch!
